Song profile

The song was written by Wright's manager and publicist at the time, Roosevelt Jamison, who came from a gospel music background.

The song is a soulful love ballad and has been covered many times since, most notably by Otis Redding in 1965 and appears on his album The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads. It was also recorded in 1965 by The Rolling Stones on their album Out of Our Heads, by Steve Young on his 1969 album Rock Salt & Nails, by Humble Pie on their 1973 album Eat It, and by Taj Mahal on his 1993 album Dancing the Blues. The Rolling Stones recorded it also on their live album Live Licks in 2004. The Hollies also recorded a strong version, which was released in England in 1965 on their self-titled album "The Hollies." In 2011, Battlefield Band included a cover of the song on their album, Line Up, sung in the style of a folk-ballad.
